SUMMARY

In this study, the effect of preeclampsia on liver function and cardiac enzymes has been evaluated in blood serum of (82 pregnant patients) aged from(17-47) compared with (58 healthy pregnant).

The groups have been divided depending on age into 3 age classes, the first class was (17-27 years old),the second one was(28-37years old),while the third class was (38-47 years old).

The serum enzymes activities for the following enzyme have been estimated:

(Aspartate aminotransferase,AST ; Alanine aminotransferase ALT; Alkaline phosphatase ALP;Lactate dehydrogenase LDH;Creatine kinase CK) ,aswell as Total protein,Albumin,Globulin,AGratio,Total bilirubin,Cholesterol,HDL-Cholesterol,LDL-     Cholesterol,Triglycerides and risk factor levels have been estimated too.The results showed a significant increase(p<0.05) in the following enzymes activity(AST,ALT,ALP,LDH and CK) in the first and second age classes, while the third age class has not seen any significant increase just in AST and ALT wherever other enzymes have not showed any significant differences.

The results also showed a significant increase(p<0.05) in the first age class chemical indicators of Total protein,Albumin,Globulin, Total bilirubin,Cholesterol,HDL-Cholesterol,LDL-Cholesterol,Triglycerides and risk factor, while the A ∕ G ratio has not showed any significant effect in the patients group, also a significant increase(p<0.05) in the chemical indicators of Total protein,Albumin, Total bilirubin,Cholesterol,HDL-Cholesterol,LDL-Cholesterol,Triglycerides and risk factor of the second age class while the patients A ∕ G ratio and Globulin indicators did not show any significant effect (p<0.05) compared with control group.A significant increase   (p<0.05) in Total bilirubin of the third age class compared with control group, while the others chemical indicators (Total protein,Albumin,Globulin, A ∕ G ratio, Cholesterol,HDL-Cholesterol,LDL-Cholesterol,Triglycerides and risk factor have not showed any significant differences compared with control group.
