abstract

The poetry of Jamal El Deen Al Kulaye represents a remarkable artistic work in which the elements of artistic creativity have been well integrated. This is because it stems from the honesty of the poetical experience in which the poet took care of the people of the household (the twelve Imams) (PBUH), praising, lamenting and displaying the oppression they encountered. The best thing he dealt with in his poetry is the elegy of Imam AL-Hussein interacting wholeheartedly with the heartbreaking battle of AL-Taf. He dealt with that experience in a special poetical style stemming from authentic emotion and noble feelings. His way of achieving all this is the religious heritage represented by the Holy Quran and the highly honoured speeches of the Prophet, Muhamed, along with speeches of the twelve Imams and their tales. This religious heritage is mixed with his imagination, feelings and emotions to produce aesthetic and artistic unity carrying his creative touches, and reflecting his personality, ideas, and individualistic impressions.

Due to the artistic features and aesthetic values I found in his poetry, I have been urged by my craving desire to study his poetry in my master degree thesis in order to serve the people of the household ( the twelve imams), hoping that this will definitely make me close to (the twelve Imams) and almighty Allah; let alone the academic and literary merits achieved because of the connection between the cognitive and the aesthetic sides. Because of all these points, the title of the artistic structure of his poetry has been chosen.

The researcher has used the principles of the abundance of the poetical allusions in dividing the sections within these and because of this, the section having a larger number of allusions than others is dealt with first.

The plan of this research is of an introduction and four chapters and a conclusion. The introduction is devoted to cover sides of the poet`s age and life. Whereas the first chapter studies the artistic structure (the poem structure) in his poetry.

Thus, it is divided into two parts: the first one studies the traditional poems (having poems) outset, the introduction, elimination, purpose, travel, and the conclusion. The second part studies the direct poems.

The second chapter is concerned with poetical language in his poetry. It is divided into two sections; the first one dealt with the most prominent words used in the making of his poetry in terms of influencing and being influenced by the context. The second one is concerned with the study of the structure taking care of the remarkable styles which took part in the making of his poetry. The third chapter is about the poetical image, and it is divided into two sections: the first one is concerned with the illustrative image which is also divided into an image of simile, metaphor, metonymic, and euphemism. The second section is concerned with the perceptive image including auditive, acoustic, aesthetic images and other images pertaining to the senses by studying them in his poetry. The fourth chapter is concerned with the poetical rhythm, and it is divided into two sections. The first one dealt with the internal rhythm demonstrating the main rhythmical phenomena which are responsible for the uplifting of the musical side in his poetry. The musical side includes repetition, rotation, antithesis, alliteration, and the overlapping of the first hemistich and the second one. As for the second section, it studies the external rhythm in three items; the first one dealt with the poetical meters, and their feet used by the poet in the making of his poetry. The second is about the rhymes used by the poet in his poems. The third item is about the defects of the rhyme. After this, we have the conclusion which shows the findings of the study. As for the references, a large number of books and from different fields like literature, history, criticism, linguistics, dictionaries, translation, and rhetoric   has been used, let alone some theses and published papers.

Speaking of the difficulties encountered in this study, the lack of books dealing with the poet`s life, but this is not devoid of fun and benefit, as I was going through the books of translation and literature looking for something dealing with his life, I came across books and references I haven’t seen before; and this enriched my knowledge in both research methodology and writing
