Abstract
Turkey’s modern and contemporary history is an important and vital history for providing a large area and fertile ground for researchers and writers interested in the study of history, so many academic studies have been going into this important period of research and analysis, whether in political, economic or social conditions, but it did not address the study of the Justice Party Which played a pivotal and essential role in the political, economic and social decision-making for nearly twenty years.
Hence the importance of the study of this thesis entitled (Adalet Party and its impact on the internal politics of Turkey 1961-1980). Its date range was determined by two important dates, such as the date of the establishment of the Adalet Party and the formal approval of the National Unity Committee after the coup of 27 May 1960 in the exercise of its political activities. Domestic politics is the subject of a large issue as the researcher found it difficult to accurately identify the internal and external effects of the party at the same time.
In order to determine the internal political effects of the party, the research was divided into a preamble and three chapters as well as an introduction and a conclusion. The preamble dealt with a brief trace of the development of party life in Turkey from 1945 until after the coup of 27 May 1960. The most prominent political parties formed during that period were led by the Democratic Party, which ruled the country from 1950 to 1960.
Concluding the military coup and the administrative actions taken by the National Unity Committee formed by the military establishment. The first chapter was devoted to the study of the situation of the Justice Party since its establishment in 1961 until the holding of parliamentary elections in 1965, where it focused on the procedures and mechanisms that resulted in the formation of the party and the study of its internal system, ideology and intellectual adoptions and political implications and its position on the coalition governments that continued to run the country until the elections in 1965.
The second chapter is devoted to the study of the majority governments formed by the Adalet Party during the period (1965-1971). The party’s electoral programs were examined in the general and local elections and their results, as well as the party’s position on the important internal political developments and events that accompanied the term of office of the government in the country.
While the third chapter is devoted to the study of the effects of the party after the coup in 1971 until the coup of 1980, and clarified the party’s positions on the transitional governments during that period, as well as the results of elections and partisan conflict that resulted in government crises did not know Turkey before and the formation of the first National Front And the second, and concluded by the minority government formed by Suleiman Demirel and its position on the economic crisis and political violence and the reasons for the coup of September 12, 1980, which stopped the political work of the Adalet Party once and for all, the study ends with a conclusion, which came out the most important conclusions reached by the researcher, which indicated that the party was right-leaning and it tends to extremism, right-wing, despite its claim of moderation, and that the failure of the country’s management, as the country suffered from economic, political and security crises due to the policies adopted.
